Battle of the Books:
Full day tournament in which 4th-5th grade student teams compete to earn points by answering questions about the books they have read from the Battle of the Books List. Winning teams advance to the District Battle of the Books.
Scholastic book sales event during conference weeks. Profits go directly towards purchasing new books for classroom libraries, the Bookmark Reading Program and the school Library.
CAPS (Committee for Atascadero Public Schools) organizes and hosts the annual Evening for Education! This event is a night of dining, dancing and silent & live auction bidding. Proceeds are considerable, and benefit all schools in the District. The planning committee, which meets monthly, requests volunteers from every school site in the District.
Chess & Speed Stack Club:
After school program one day per week for students to learn, play and have fun with Chess and Speed Stacking.
Opportunity for families to meet and mingle after the long summer. Bring a picnic, or buy food at the event, and enjoy games, music and fun with friends.
Evening event to honor individuals in the school community for their outstanding committment to Monterey Road School and its students.
Fun & Games:
After school program one day per week for 1st-5th grade students to participate in fun, physical activity.
Evening event of carnival fun, games & prizes for all students and their families.
Long Jump-A-Thon (LJAT):
Our biggest and most important fundraiser of the year takes place over a one-month period, and provides us with over 70% percent of our annual budget. Students work alongside MRS PTA to raise money for their school by gathering sponsors and donations for their long-jumps. The month long event includes assemblies, prizes, music and jumping week for the students.
Pumpkin Decorating Showcase:
Pumpkin decorating showcase for all students.
Reflections is an arts recognition and achievement program for students. The Reflections Program provides opportunities for students to express themselves creatively and to receive positive recognition for original works of art inspired by a pre-selected theme, while increasing community awareness on the importance of the arts in education.
Staff Appreciation Week (SAW):
One-week event of appreciation for all Monterey Road School staff and faculty. The week includes providing lunches and treats, raffle prizes, and special projects of appreciation for staff by students.
Evening event to showcase the talents of those students who wish to participate.
Walk Your Child to Class Day:
Event to give parents the opportunity to "walk their child to class." Includes morning breakfast treats for students and their families.
